All QueerTalks are scheduled to be held at the Comfort & Joy Queer Carrot Dome located at 8:00 and Donniker and will be held on their respective days between 10:00 and 11:00 AM.
Tuesday GlamCocks Present: CockTalk (10 - 11 AM @ Comfort & Joy Carrot Dome)
Queer men are living in a new age of health and wellness as new options and attitudes around HIV and mental health continue to emerge. GlamCocks will facilitate a discussion on physical and mental health topics important to queer men. This discussion will include information on HIV prevention and care, PrEP and inward shaming within the queer community. This is an open forum and all are welcome.
Wednesday Camp Beaverton Presents: ClitTalk (10 - 11 AM @ Comfort & Joy Carrot Dome)
The Queer community can sometimes feel like a middle school dance, with girls on one side, boys on the other and no one wants to talk to each other. A lack of understanding between the communities and culture keeps us segregated, and fosters misogyny and mistrust. Camp Beaverton will lead a facilitated discussion on how we can educate each other, and open up our communities in order to create a culture of openness and inclusion?

Gender can be a challenging topic for many of us to talk about. As a community, we often let assumptions and misunderstandings trump compassion and empathy. Gender Blender will lead an open discussion about trans life and experiences, and thoughts on community exclusion. This is an open forum and all are welcome.

The sense of inclusion and community found at Burning Man is often hard to replicate in the default world. Queer talks will close our series with a discussion on how to take the ten principles of Burning Man and use them to build a stronger Queer Community beyond the trash fence. GlamCocks, Camp Beaverton, and Gender Blender will cofacilitate a discussion around community building, fostering leadership, and creating a more inclusive and united Queer Community. This is an open forum and all are welcome.
